Maids & Mothers–Pro Tips on What’s Trending for 2023
Once you’ve got your gown locked in, it’s time to go shopping for your bridal party. Like shopping for your gown, it’s always a good idea to have a game plan before you come in (and an appointment). And no one knows better than us how challenging it can be to shop for other people, so fear not, we’re here to help. Here’s what’s trending for Bridesmaids and MOBs and some pro tips for helping the process go smoothly.
With hundreds of bridesmaid dresses in stock, you’re sure to find the one(s) for your girls. Our expert stylists will help you find the perfect color to coordinate with your wedding colors and the silhouette that best flatters your girls. Now all that’s left to do is have fun and go shopping!
Weddings are getting more colorful this year, but the color palette for bridesmaid dresses is still trending toward more subdued hues, (probably because they’re the most wearable). Pink is always in for weddings, but this season, it’s vintage-inspired pastels like blush, dusk, and ballet that are taking the cake. Green is by far the most intriguing of the colors that are trending this season. Now, we’re not talking bright green so don’t get too carried away. Think sage and moss for spring and summer and deep pine for the winter months. We’re also seeing some neutrals hanging in there like beige, latte, and champagne which are always a safe choice because your girls can definitely wear them again.
Finally, formalwear is catching up to athleisure and all of your favorite bridesmaid lines are incorporating stretch into their fabrics. From crepe to satin and everything in between, this season’s bridesmaid dresses finally feel as good as they look. And while we’re excited about the new fabric tech, we’re still seeing some of the classic chiffon maids dresses enduring.
Before we dive into silhouettes, we first want to point out that most of our Maids lines have the same color available in multiple silhouettes. Choosing your color and allowing your maids to choose the silhouette that works best on their body is always an option. If you do want your maids to match, the most popular silhouettes for the season are A-line dresses with delicate straps and fitted column and mermaid dresses that show off the body.
Your MOB is your MVP, the one who’s always in your corner and answered every frantic phone call as you were in the thick of wedding planning. So, you want to make sure she looks and feels her best on the big day. Thankfully we have a ton of great MOB dress options in a variety of lengths and styles.
You want your mom to stand out from the rest of your wedding party, so her look should compliment your dress and that of your bridesmaids, but be distinct and make a statement of its own. Neutrals are always safe because they’ll look great in your family portraits and hanging on your walls for years to come. Navy, champagne, and silver are the neutrals that moms and brides are leaning toward right now. If your mom prefers a little more color dusty blue and rich wine shades are very now.
While minimalist styles are still quite popular, it’s a good idea to incorporate some embellishment into your MOB look, be it lace or beading. Something to set her apart from the wedding guests and make her feel extra special. Like with maids, we’re seeing more stretch being incorporated into MOB dresses, and you’d be surprised what they can make stretch these days, satin, lace, crepe, and even chiffon.
Now, we know we’ve been talking about MOB dresses, but these days, it’s more like MOB ensembles because pant suits are surprisingly popular! As with bridesmaids, A-line silhouettes are also popular with MOBs, but done a little differently, usually with a lace bodice with sleeves for a regal feel. Straight column dresses are also popular with MOBs and are great for wearing again to galas and other formal events. We are your one-stop-shop for all things formalwear and we have a ton of great options for your MOB from Montage, MGNY, and many more with prices ranging from $198-$598. It’s also worth noting that we stock a lot of our formal gowns in many styles and colors, so some of them can be purchased and taken home that same day. As always, though, we can special order any dress in a specific size and color if that suits your timeline. Set up your mother-daughter appointment today, and while you’re at it, book yourselves a brunch rezzie for afterward and make a date out of it.
